🌄 Introduction
The Spiti Valley ride is every motorcyclist’s dream — a journey that blends rugged Himalayan trails, high-altitude passes, ancient monasteries, and surreal landscapes. Starting from the bustling city of Delhi, the route takes you through pine-covered hills of Shimla, apple orchards of Kinnaur, the moonscapes of Spiti, and finally the raw wilderness of Chandratal before returning via Manali.
This isn’t just a ride; it’s an adventure that tests endurance, rewards with breathtaking views, and offers a deep dive into Himalayan culture. Whether it’s the charm of remote villages, the thrill of water crossings, or the camaraderie on long stretches, the Delhi–Spiti–Delhi ride is the ultimate test of both rider and machine.
Day 1: Delhi → Shimla
Distance: ~350 km | Ride Time: 8–9 hrs
Scenic entry into the hills via Chandigarh. Evening at Mall Road, Shimla.
Day 2: Shimla → Sangla (Baspa Valley)
Distance: ~230 km | Ride Time: 8–9 hrs
Ride through Kufri & Rampur, reach riverside camps in Sangla.
Day 3: Sangla → Kalpa (via Chitkul)
Distance: ~40 km | Ride Time: 2–3 hrs
Visit Chitkul (last village before Tibet). Night halt at Kalpa overlooking Kinnaur Kailash.
Day 4: Kalpa → Nako → Tabo
Distance: ~200 km | Ride Time: 8–9 hrs
Stop at Nako Lake; continue to the historic Tabo Monastery.
Day 5: Tabo → Dhankar → Kaza
Distance: ~90 km | Ride Time: 4–5 hrs
Visit cliffside Dhankar Monastery. Arrive in Kaza, Spiti’s capital.
Day 6: Kaza Local Exploration
Visit Key Monastery, Kibber, Hikkim (world’s highest post office), and Komic village.
Day 7: Kaza → Chandratal Lake
Distance: ~90 km | Ride Time: 6–7 hrs
Cross Kunzum Pass; camp by the surreal Chandratal Lake.
Day 8: Chandratal → Manali
Distance: ~120 km | Ride Time: 7–8 hrs
Tough off-road stretch via Batal & Chhatru, reach Manali.
Day 9: Manali → Chandigarh
Distance: ~300 km | Ride Time: 8–9 hrs
Smooth downhill ride, overnight in Chandigarh.
Day 10: Chandigarh → Delhi
Distance: ~250 km | Ride Time: 5–6 hrs
Ride back to Delhi. Expedition ends.

Best Season: June–September
Carry extra fuel between Kaza–Manali
Pack warm gear: nights drop below zero near Chandratal
